Ann Johnson

As an artist I gain the most enormous pleasure from the act of putting paint on paper or canvas. I have ideas about the direction that I would like the painting to take but essentially the painting evolves as I work into it.

For this Exhibition I have followed two contrasting themes - the bright colours of the Med in high summer with the more subtle autumnal colours of the Dales and North Wales.

 I am delighted to have this opportunity to share Gallery space with Sue and I hope that you enjoy looking at the work as much as I have enjoyed painting them.

This last year (2024) my garden has been bursting with a profusion of colours. They brought me joy every day and when they started to come to the end of their life, I wanted to preserve them for as long as possible. So I pressed them. Those flowers were a huge source of inspiration for me.

Also this year the birds started to become more confident at using my new feeders. Again they brought me such delight, as they fluttered in and out. These were a new feature and a new source of inspiration. 

 I too am delighted to be showing my work with Anne under our title 'A SHARED PASSION'
